The historic and pedestrian centre of Pau
The city center of Pau is almost entirely pedestrian allowing visitors to enjoy shopping or stopping in at one of the many cafes or restaurants.
The Roncevaux Hotel is 150m from Place Clemenceau
The newly pedestrianisation zone lining the Joffre district to the Castle via Place Clemenceau gives the city centre a new ambiance, a place of convivial life with friendly shops, covered markets and cultural places such as the Saint-Louis cinema and the André-Labarrère library.
Stroll through the pedestrian streets loaded with History
Inaugurated in the 17th century in the heart of Pau, the Hotel Roncevaux, former convent of the Capuchins monks, is a short walk from all the best tourist sites. The Hédas district, at the foot of your hotel, is one of the most typical of the city, with its winding alleys, pebble facades and seven bridges spanning the ravine where the Hédas stream once flowed though the center of the city.
Be sure to visit the follow squares: Liberation, Clemenceau, Espagne and Royale. Each one a place to congregate at the terrace of a welcoming café or take a break in the shade of a palm tree.
